Tender Overview

SOLARTEX GLOBAL COMPANY LTD invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified suppliers for the supply and delivery of electrical distribution transformers. The equipment will be used in grid infrastructure expansion and maintenance programmes. Bidders must demonstrate prior experience in the manufacture or distribution of electrical transformers compliant with recognised international standards.

Scope of Supply

  • Single-phase and three-phase distribution transformers, 50 kVA to 1,000 kVA
  • Oil-immersed, natural cooling (ONAN) type transformers
  • Primary voltage: 11 kV / 33 kV; Secondary voltage: 0.415 kV
  • Tap changer (off-circuit) ±2.5% / ±5% of nominal voltage
  • Bushing insulators, surge arresters, and earthing terminals
  • Delivery to designated substations and project sites across the country
  • Commissioning support and technical documentation (factory test reports)

Technical Specifications

  • Compliance with IEC 60076 or equivalent KBS standard
  • Efficiency class Tier 2 (minimum) as per IEC 60076-20
  • Enclosure rating: IP44 minimum for outdoor installation
  • Noise level not exceeding 55 dB at 1 metre
  • Design life: minimum 25 years under normal operating conditions
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) report required for each unit

Eligibility Criteria

  • Certificate of Incorporation / Business Registration
  • Valid Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority
  • Minimum 3 years' documented experience supplying electrical transformers
  • Proof of manufacturer authorisation (if supplier, not manufacturer)
  • Audited financial statements for the last 2 financial years
  • Evidence of at least two similar contracts completed in the past 5 years
  • AGPO certificate (if applicable — 30% preference reserved)
